Terms and Conditions for the “Dost” English Language Support Project
1. Definitions
- Participants: Refers to high school students from outside Canada who have qualified to enroll in the “Dost” project and are seeking to improve their English language skills.
- Volunteers: Refers to students residing in Canada who are native or fluent English speakers and provide tutoring support to Participants in the program.
- Coordinator: Refers to the individual responsible for overseeing the program, scheduling sessions, and ensuring compliance with the Terms and Conditions.
- Parents/Guardians: Refers to the individuals who provide consent for Participants under the age of 19 to join the program.
2. Introduction
- These Terms and Conditions govern the participation in the “Dost” English Language Support Project. By participating, all Participants, Volunteers, and their Parents/Guardians agree to comply with these terms.
3. Program Overview
- The “Dost” project connects high school students from around the world who wish to improve their English language skills with volunteer tutors in Canada. The program will run for six months, starting in mid-November and concluding in mid-May.
4. Eligibility
- Participants must be high school students aged 19 or younger. Parental consent is required for all Participants under 19 years of age, which must be provided in written form before the start of the program.
5. Sessions
- Sessions will take place weekly via Zoom, lasting one hour each. The Coordinator will schedule sessions, ensuring that topics are provided in advance. Participants are expected to discuss only the designated topics during these sessions.
6. Code of Conduct
- All Participants and Volunteers must treat each other with respect, kindness, and understanding. The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
- Hate speech, slang, or any language that is racist, derogatory, or demeaning.
- Sharing of photographs or personal information between Participants and Volunteers.
- Participants must ensure a supportive and safe environment for all.
7. Attendance and Cancellation Policy
- Each Participant may reschedule their sessions up to two times and cancel one session per month. Rescheduled sessions must be completed within the same week.
- Notification of cancellations or rescheduling must be communicated to the Coordinator at least two days in advance.
- Participants who fail to attend without notice or exceed the allowed number of cancellations may be removed from the program.
8. Certificates
- Volunteers who complete at least 85% of the program will receive a Volunteer Hours Certificate. Participants who also complete at least 85% will receive a Participant Certificate. Certificates will be issued at the end of the program.
9. Privacy and Confidentiality
- Participants’ names and any identifying information will not be shared publicly. All communications regarding issues or concerns should be directed to the Coordinator via email.
10. Monitoring and Evaluation
- The Coordinator or designated observers may randomly attend sessions to monitor the quality and effectiveness of the program. Feedback will be collected from Participants and Volunteers to improve future sessions.
11. Intellectual Property Rights
- All intellectual and industrial property rights related to the “Dost” project, including but not limited to materials, resources, and concepts, are retained by the Company. No part of the project may be reproduced, distributed, or transmitted without prior written permission from the Company.
12. Amendments
- These Terms and Conditions may be amended as needed. Participants and their Parents/Guardians will be notified of any significant changes.
13. Agreement
- By participating in the “Dost” project, all Participants, Volunteers, and their Parents/Guardians acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
